Links TO Your Website April 19, 2010

One of the very important to-do items on the SEO list is to gain good, quality links TO your website. Not the garden variety mom-and-pop-store link, mind you, but as popular of a site as you can muster.

Associations or chambers of commerce are a good place to start. These sites usually garner some quality traffic, making them “popular” in the eyes of a search engine. Just make sure to get a text link (as opposed to or in addition to an image logo/link).

Contributing to blogs and forums help also as long as you link back to your site appropriately. Please don’t advertise in a forum or blog. You won’t be asked back for good reason. But, if you have good, experienced advice and can tie it into a page on your site, perfect. You’ve just created a link to your site. Just remember to make sure you’re offering up valuable information in some way.

Of course, you can also create all sorts of social media sites (blogs, forums, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and more) that will each serve as a separate site/link right back to your website. It’s powerful, free and pretty easy.
